our vision
Safeguarding democracy goes beyond voter registration, education and mobilization.
It requires building a strong and powerful organizing infrastructure that operates year round by integrating issues communities care about.
The Democracy Funders Network provides an excellent opportunity to deepen and broaden understanding of the power that needs to be built by people of color, low-income and working class communities to achieve meaningful change for all Massachusetts residents.

our objectives
1. To engage with other funders and community partners in deep conversation about what is needed to support democratic progress in our state, how to support leaders from the BIPOC community, understand the challenges and realities they face, as well as the restrictions we face, being part of the traditional foundation community.
2. To host several briefings throughout the year to educate and inform funders about existing and new initiatives supporting democracy and the challenges and opportunities facing grassroots organizations and leaders across Massachusetts.

Community members, organizers and local leaders together in February 2020 at the YWCA of Southeastern MA. The YWCA, funded by the Massachusetts Census Equity Fund, hosted a Census training and kick-off for "Getting out the Count" for Census 2020.
our people
